You’ll notice the site looks very different on your iPhone or other smartphone. Rather than switch the entire theme to something responsive (I happen to like the way it looks on my large Mac at home), I installed a plug-in for smartphones, ’cause it was really impossible to read on one. Tablets (iPads and whatnot) will still give you the same desktop view because, well, it fits on a tablet! It just seems everything is getting so generic now in obeisance to all the devices we use and I didn’t want to lose a look I happen to like. So … only the smartphones have that itemized look to them, but it works.

We’ve seen this movie before, we know how it ends. Will they ever stop playing it? If they could win elections they wouldn’t need to resort to this toxic nonsense.
From the Washington Post:
History will record that on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary met to consider the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama.
They didn’t use that word, of course. Republican leaders frown on such labeling because it makes the House majority look, well, crazy.
The Republicans in the House know there is no chance of throwing this president from office. Yet at least 13 of the 22 Republicans on the panel have threatened or hinted at impeachment of Obama, his appointees or his allies in Congress. They’ve proposed this as the remedy to just about every dispute or political disagreement, from Syria to Obamacare.

Addendum: I’m told this is from 2011. Oh well, it’s still great.

“On Wednesday, December 4th at 10:00 am, the Council’s Health Committee will hold a public hearing on legislation sponsored by Council Member James F. Gennaro and Speaker Quinn to include electronic cigarettes in the city’s Smoke-Free Air Act. This would result in a prohibition of the use of e-cigs in restaurants, offices, parks, beaches and other public spaces. In essence, it is a ban on e-cigs anywhere traditional cigarettes are prohibited.”
What would the City Council do if it couldn’t intrude in people’s lives? And will De Blasio be any less of a Frankennanny than Bloomberg?
Here’s the deal, there is no smoke to e-cigs, it’s not tobacco. All it produces is a light cloud of vapor that no one smells and that vanishes in seconds. This proposed ban is not about protecting anyone’s health. It’s about control, and the power of the anti-smoking contingent who cannot stand to see anyone doing anything that looks like something they have expressly forbidden.
Newsflash to the City Council: people who use e-cigs, which includes me for the time being, are going to go right on using them, and in the places we’re not supposed to. This includes work, and restaurants (I just go in the bathroom), and in parks. Cup the e-cig, nobody’s the wiser. This is a futile attempt to crush the naughty smokers, even when there’s no smoke and no danger to anyone. It just looks sinful. As for the argument that children can’t tell the difference between a tobacco cigarette and an e-cig, excuse me? So what if your kids can’t tell the difference. Explain it to them.
My advice to my fellow vapers – smoke ‘em anyway. They appear to be too clueless to know we can. Oh, and now I’m really glad I didn’t vote for Quinn. When she’s not using some tragedy to keep her name in the news, she’s sponsoring legislation to make sure everyone’s as uptight as she is.

Coming up fast for this Sunday: My AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit books will begin with a post from me on Sunday, December 8, 8:00 am eastern.
My ‘cubicle life’ video went viral and the next thing I knewI was contacted by Kyle, one of the moderators at Reddit books. He wanted to know if I’d be interested in doing an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit soon. I thought it over for a millisecond and said yes. I’ll be their first gay author (not so sure about that), talking about my mystery series, the Kyle Callahan Mysteries. To say I’m excited is an understatement, and I hope you’ll log in and check out the Q & A, or better yet, ask me anything!
You can read the first two chapters of Book 2 in the series, Pride and Perilous, at the Kyle Callahan Mysteries website here. And you can check out the other AMAs they’ve done here. I’m in pretty incredible company and I hope you’ll stop by.

I ordered these a few weeks ago when I decided that a good way to deal with feeling under-appreciated was to start appreciating others. I’ve left two of them today at places I stop for food. The idea is to leave it quietly and leave, so they don’t know who left it (but my favorite waiter at the Sunflower will know; they’re always so good to me there).
